So that was...Interesting. I think I discovered hackey sack. That was kinda cool? Anyway, I think I've got a third grade gym teacher who'd be proud. I went from juggling scarves to juggling fire. I'd say I traded up, except for the plumbing.

I know things got ugly at the end. How bad was it? [By which he means, if you're a friend, and alive, and haven't been on the network yet, he would like to know.]

[But if they develop precog abilities it's ~meaningful~ and such. Tim perks a little, straightening when he sees her.] Hey.

[He opens the door - maybe a little bashful of the birdarang Item - and holds it for her, not looking in.] Forrest or beach?

[She gives him a hopeless look as she walks past him.] Well now you've said that you've jinxed it, it's going to be a desert or Outer Mongolia or - oh, hey, no. Beach.

[Specifically, a pretty nice beach at almost-sunset, a seemingly endless blue ocean on one side and sand dunes on the other. There's a light breeze coming off the water, and despite all the mermaid nonsense, she finds herself relaxing.]

[He steps in after her, ready to be sheepish - but hey. Beach. He's actually surprised.] Woah. I can't remember the last time I was actually at a beach. [He runs a hand through his hair, letting the door close behind him.]

So much for jinxes.

Yeah. I guess I don't need to beat you up after all. [She looks down at the sand, then slips off her shoes and leaves them near the door.] I guess I've actually been pretty lucky with this place. I mean, I've been all over the world - it could pick out some pretty unpleasant locales, y'know?

[Following her example, Tim kicked off his shoes, snorting.] Forests and beaches are definitely the nicer places it could pick. I really don't want to go to the Himalayas again. [especially not without that neat thermal suit that Catwoman almost tore up.]

Ugh, me either. [She started wandering, walking down along the seam between the sand and the water.] I've never been so happy to see a lair explode.

Bad insulation system? [He followed her down, walking next to her.] So whose lair was it? I'm guessing not the mad golfer.

We could've taken over the world twice over on the cash it took to keep that place heated. [She ran a hand over her face.] No, Drakken. We'd done the run of everywhere warm and he got it into his head that a little bit of snow and altitude might keep away the cold callers.

[Drakken. Really needs to be smacked in the face. With a fish. Really.]

...I know he dropped out of college, but are you sure he was ever accepted?

[Shego let out a low, dark laugh.] Yeah, somehow he did. He got laughed out of the place when he tried to make robot girlfriends for his roommates.

[He swallowed a snort.] I think I should ask if they were good robot girlfriends.

Do you know, I have no idea. That was all the detail on that situation I ever wanted.

[She tucked her hands into her pockets, her smile fading.]

So there was...something else.

[Oh, there it was. Tim looked sidelong at her.] I'm listening.

[Yeah, he was. He always was - he was so cagey about his own life that she ended up talking about herself way more than she did with anybody else. Was that deliberate on his part, or just something that happened? She squashed down the thought.]

Kirk got his memory back. Just before the flood, I think. The Vulcan chick did some crazy psychic thing on him.

[Oh boy. Tim kept walking, sliding his hands into his pockets.] Did he tell you, or did it slip out? [Since being truthful was, occasionally, a nice thing.]

He told me. Kinda. I mean he said everything except flat out 'I have my memories back' so, yeah. [She glanced down, watching the waves lap over her feet as she walked.]

So...What'd you do? [He turned his head a little to watch her. There was a lot of history between her and Kirk, and he didn't know most of it.]

I punched him. [She laughed humourlessly.] And he apologised for hurting me.

[He blinked.] And that's...bad. [Tilting his head so the wind would push some hair out of his eyes, he looked at her thoughtfully.] Think you'll forgive him, eventually?

I don't know. Right now I don't really want to.

[She sighs and runs her hands through her hair.]

I'm just - I'm so mad, so freaking mad and I don't know what to do with it here. Back home I'd just - walk away, take a break, go knock over a jewellery store and spend the proceeds in some Mediterranean spa resort. But here I'm just stuck with everything and he -

[Her hands were clenching and unclenching in tight fists now, her face set into a scowl and her voice growing steadily angrier.]

- he said he came back like it was supposed to mean something. Duh, he came back and he didn't remember leaving in the first place so why should I care? I didn't even think he could be any more of a jerk but it's happened, and I just - he's so - argh!

[She hurled a green energy blast at a dune maybe twenty feet away, kicking up a cloud of sand and uprooting a few hunks of grass.]

[He watched the small explosion without jumping, considering the damage.]

He came back and didn't remember anything, [he repeated,] But now he does. [Tim turned to look back at her.] He's still here, right? I don't know, maybe that means something.

Oh, so he didn't run off like a dumped teenage girl again the second that things stopped looking so easy. Should I be impressed by that? [She scoffed.] He said he's more mature now. I'll believe it when I see it.

[He shrugged a little helplessly.] He told you. He didn't have to. And maybe he is - maybe he will prove it. If he doesn't, punch him, but if he does? Then what?

[Her shoulders slumped. She couldn't bear the idea of getting close to him again, trusting him again, but she knew it was almost inevitable. With a few notable exceptions she had neither the attention span nor the energy to hold long-term grudges. How many times had she beaten the snot out of Drakken only to clock in on his payroll a week later?]

I don't know. [Her voice was quiet and some of vulnerability she felt bled into it.] I just. I don't know.

[Tim stopped walking, reaching out to put an arm around her shoulders. He stepped toward her instead of pulling her to him. But that's apparently the easy part, because he has no idea what to say.] It's okay. Maybe you'll know if it happens.
