I've never been somewhere with closer correlations to a roller coaster before coming here. I fell asleep on a roller coaster, once. My girlfriend - at the time - was pretty furious with me. She didn't talk to me for the rest of the day. Kind of killed our day out.

All things considered? Sometimes I wish I could sleep through this ride. It better be a long time until we start the next steep climb.

This is a lot later than I meant it to be, but things came up and...well. I figured out what the device does.

Yeah, you probably should.

[But it doesn't last because he brought ice cream. Omnom. He can probably tell she's lacking a bit of her usual dexterity from the way she handles the spoon.]

Y'know how people say you shouldn't lose your head in a time of crisis? They have a point.

[He looks vaguely sheepish. Just vaguely.]

I don't think they meant it literally.

Still true. [She has a spoonful of ice cream and then decides not to talk about the fact she fell in battle any more.] So I met Bruce just before this whole thing went down.

[That gets a headshake.] Cramming everything into one week, huh.

How'd it go?

You know how sometimes you're talking to someone and you just spend the whole conversation wishing you could set people on fire with your mind?

[Considering pause.]

That may just be me. But, yeah.

[Sneeeerk. He smiles into his ice cream.] I tend to hope for robbers to burst through windows.

Heh. So, yeah, I spent the whole thing wishing he'd spontaneously combust. That's how it went. [She gives him a bleak look.] He jumped on the age thing like you were the naive sixteen-year-old heroine of a nineteenth-century romance novel and I was the thirtysomething roguish jackass who came riding in and swept you off your feet.

[She grimaces and takes another spoonful of ice cream pretty much for medicinal purposes, because being annoyed makes her throat hurt.]

[Ice cream is always medicinal. Tim blinks. And turns to his ice cream to hide a snort.]

Well. That's an image I'm never going to get out of my head now, thanks. That can't be all he said, though.

It kind of was. Well, I mean, he asked me about myself and I didn't tell him anything worth knowing because it's none of his freaking business. Basically what happened is that I yelled at him until he decided he approves of me. I dunno how that works.

He doesn't really respect the people who are afraid of him. [Nomnom ice cream.] So...am I right in suspecting you'll never be talking to him again?

Not if I can possibly avoid it. Do all your girlfriends get a vaguely threatening shakedown or is it just the career criminals?

Well you're the first career criminal, so I guess it sets a precedent. [Paaause] But I'm pretty sure he lured a criminal to a restaurant I was on a first date at.

[Stare.] And I'm guessing that didn't go down any better than falling asleep on a roller coaster, huh.

Actually, it kind of worked out. I mean, I got her out and helped him stop the bad guy, so. [Another pause. NOW HE IS CONSIDERING ALL THE WAYS HE FAILED AT DATING ZOANNE.] She kind of hated me for getting kidnapped, though. But that one was my fault.

He usually didn't have much to do with my girlfriends. [Because he was like fifteen and most of them weren't serious.]

You wouldn't believe how much I'm hoping that trend continues.

[With some effort she rolls onto her side to face him better.]

Did your extended non-blood-related family make it through this okay?

I'd bet it will.

[He hesitates, then nods.] More or less. Apparently even here, we can't get involved in something without people getting hurt.

Don't worry about it. Nobody here can get involved in something without people getting hurt.

I'd suggesting running at the next port, but that never seems to work.

Hey, wouldn't be space jail if you could escape. [She pulls a face.] Not that there's been many ports I'd wanna run away in.

[New York was okay. And suburbia port. Shhhh.]

It is kind of a one in ten shot. I'd say the only thing the Barge has going for it as a prison is not letting prisoners escape...But the Admiral wrecked us in the one on board attempt there was.

Not to mention everyone who disappears. [Fruuuuustration. Argh. But okay, ice cream is calming.] I didn't mind our stint in suburbia, though.

The car was pretty sweet. On the other hand, I don't ever want to see Prefect in a wedding dress again.

Oh, yeah, the car. [Crooked smile.] The car may be the new love of my life.

...And I don't think anyone wants to see Prefect in a wedding dress. Ever.

He looked exactly the same as a chick as he does as a guy. It was kinda freaky.

[She frowns, because that came out sounding whispery and now her throat's aching again. Second day of a particularly crappy Death Toll. It's gonna take a while before she's back on full form.]

...I think I need to not talk for a little bit.

[...Tim agrees very much. :| That is concern squirming over his face.] I think so too. Maybe you should rest. [And if she tries to do more than nod or shake her head he will not be pleased.]

[She does nod, but also reaches over for her communicator and taps something out to hold up for him.]
