I've been bitter in my life, yes. Not for this.

[Hrm. Maybe that's not true.] Why would I want to be normal?

Because we're programmed to seek out others. Feeling like you belong is a really powerful thing.

I can belong without being normal.

Besides, I'm better than that, than them.

And I'm smarter than most people I know. That doesn't mean I'm better than them. Is it so hard to just accept normality? For other other people, if not for yourself?

If you were just smarter? No. Everything you are? You are better than them. You're special too.

Other people need to be normal, to make normal what it is. I have a problem with people who are special acting normal. Pretending to fit in.

I do that every day, back home. Why do you have a problem with it?

Because it's pathetic. People better than the mundane shouldn't have to strive to fit in, to be less than they are.

In general, I agree. But you can't accept that sometimes there are reasons for that?

Only when they're weak.

And you can't respect that. Even in someone you might care about.

Her. Maybe me. I'm trying to understand why you have so much trouble respecting other people. Normal people.

I know that you don't want her to be normal. I just want to know why you can't accept it.

Because she's better than it, better than them. She only thinks she wants to be normal because she's afraid of being alone, of the expectations. Insecurities. Weakness.

She's afraid of hurting someone. That's not weakness, that's strength.

She's afraid of not appeasing her mother.

Her mom's crazy, an she knows that. She isn't worried about that.

Maybe I really do know her better than anyone here.

No. It took a lot of guilt. Fear is a powerful motivator, Tim. You should know that.

I was in a similar situation. Quitting was the more terrifying option. [He. Doesn't like to think about what that means for himself. :C]

Now that we've agreed I understand her better than you do, it has nothing to do with actually wanting to be normal. She's better than that and she only gives in on occasion out of fear. That's why I can't accept it.

Because she doesn't want to be normal. She wants to avoid the pressure of being special.
